Admission Process
Admissions to B Ed course are done through a competitive examination held every year by a university designated by the Uttar Pradesh Government. For the schedule of the examination, the candidates should be vigilant about the university notification. On the basis of the competitive examination, the examination conducting university prepares a merit list, organises counselling and allots the colleges.
The eligibility criteria for admission to B Ed course is a graduate degree in Arts or Science with at least two subjects taught at school level from a university established by law and recognised as a university by the University Grants Commission. Candidates belonging to Unreserved and Other Backward Classes category are required to have a minimum of 45 per cent marks in their graduate/postgraduate examination. However, for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates, only a graduate degree is the minimum requirement. At the time of submission of application form, the candidate must be a graduate.
Candidates who have not studied two school teaching subjects at the graduate level or do not possess the graduate degree at the time of filing of the form are advised not for the admission test.
School subjects are as follows:
- 1. Arts Stream
Hindi, English, Sanskrit, History, Geography, Political Science/Civics, Economics/Home Science and Mathematics - 2. Science Stream
(i) For PCM Stream: Mathematics, Science (Physics and Chemistry)
(ii) For ZBC Stream: Biology (Botany and Zoology), Science (Chemistry)
While filling the application forms, the candidates must self attest all the photographs and photocopies of certificates/mark sheets. If a candidate wants to avail the benefit of reservation and/or weightages, he/she should submit attested photocopies of the relevant certificates issues by the competent authority only.
